WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF ISMP 15 (norms for wood packaging materials in international trade) STANDARD?
Regardless of the exported product according to the ISPM 15 standard, all kinds of wood packaging materials (thickness 6 mm.pallets, crates, crates, wedges, etc., except for those are less than) must be processed (heat treated) and marked. Marking by heat treatment can only be done by authorized companies.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ISPM 15 STANDARD?
The implementation of the standard is the responsibility of the member states and imposes responsibilities on companies importing or exporting through legislative changes.
The responsibility of the exporting country is to publish and implement legislation that provides for heat treatment or fumigation of methyl bromide and the granting of the authority to make internationally valid marking related to this process;
The responsibility of the exporter is to ensure that the wood packaging material used in the exported products bears the mark of the ISPM 15 standard;
The importer’s responsibility is to request that the wood packaging material used in the imported products bear the mark of ISPM 15 standard;
The responsibility of the importing country is to look for the ISPM 15 standard mark on wood packaging materials entering its country.
